Usually, the cause is some kind of health problem, such as anemia or stress. Hair shedding also commonly occurs when the individual is being treated for cancer by chemotherapy or radiation. In these cases, total and complete hair loss can result from the hair shedding. But, in these situations, the hair will grow back once the underlying cause is resolved.
